The sizing is generous on these shorts. After ordering my size based on the size chart I had to return them and get a size smaller. ( I have a 34" waist and ended up getting size 30). The material is thick and quite heavy so I imagine that these are going to be hard-wearing and will put up with a quite bit of abuse in the great outdoors.
